One investigation involving personal injury that I was hired for involved a “slip and fall”. A woman was leaving work one day and cut across the grass. She stepped on an unmarked and unseen irrigation cover, slipped, fell, and injured her back. The company claimed this was impossible, a cone was placed over the cover, and the grass was even and safe. Upon investigation and documentation of the property, it was found that the grass was over-watered, resulting in an abnormally slippery and uneven surface. Additionally, the green irrigation cover was made of slick plastic, which could easily cause a fall. Further investigation discovered several witnesses who confirmed the woman’s account and our findings. The physical evidence and material witnesses we presented succeeded in finding this company guilty of negligence.
