Background checks. It is true that to a certain extent you can do these yourself. So what are the advantages of hiring a licensed investigator?

It comes down to how much time you have, what your resources are, the quality of information you need, and of course, money.

Let’s put it this way:

When you head to the airport and step onto that 747, are you comforted to know that the pilot has the license and experience to fly that 747? Are you equally comfortable if you discover it is an unlicensed pilot flying your plane?

Licensed Private Investigators have increased accessibility to national records. They are responsible for knowing the local laws on how to legally gather information, what is admissible in court (important!), and they carry their own liability insurance (also important!). Experienced and seasoned Investigators know which databases are reliable and accurate. Their fees are based on having this expertise, resources, database knowledge, and their ability to evaluate and verify the information. The work of an Investigator yields a product (report, photos, video).
